"He's no good, but he's what I want." *



* A line from Otto Preminger's 1944 classic film noir, "Laura," extolled by both Anthony Lane and Richard Brody in current New Yorker.  Film is being shown in NYC in restored 35 millimeter.  Lane suggests a double bill with "Rebecca."  I suggest "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."  (Call me the Blogger With the One-Track Mind today.  See post below.)  I do think they bear comparison, because nowadays an actress like Gene Tierney would have to take up kick boxing and gunplay or settle for roles as the wife/"love" interest of some boy-schlub comedian.
