The Seuss Caboose.

Last post on Dr. Suess, at least for a while.  I couldn't resist the link in the New Yorker that took me to the backstory of Dr. Seuss's only book for adults, which "tells the story of nudist sisters who, after their father's death, pledge not to wed until each of them has 'brought to the light of the world some new and worthy Horse Truth, of benefit to man.'"  The book, published as a condition of Giesel's migration to Random House, was a flop.  The author said later, "I attempted to draw the sexiest babes I could, and they came out looking absurd."
For more of the illustrations and story, here's the link:  http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2012/03/02/dr-seuss-seven-lady-godivas/
J.K. Rowling, who's just announced plans for her first adult novel, might want to take note.
