Since we left off on the subject of assistants and sharks, let's consider:  In today's go-ahead, get-ahead world, what could be more tantalizing or more trying than the #2 spot?  Lately, the slight, meticulous Indian assistant seems to be in fashion (see 30 Rock and Rules of Engagement), while in actual fashion/teevee, Brad's getting his breakout role from the frightenly skinny shadow of Rachel Zoe.



Assistance with a French Twist.

But now on DVD/Netflix, see the assistant with the French twist, make that French twisted, in "Love Crime" starring Kristen Scott Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier as a powerful #1 and her assistant who go to war.  It starts as an "All About Eve" in reverse, but quickly starts churning--the psychosexual currents are strong enough to knock down a house.  The second half is more police procedural, a la Columbo, only without a Columbo.  But the first half is like a car accident--you can't look away.
